Biography: Dr Mingyue Selena Sheng is a Senior Research Fellow in the Energy Centre at the University of Auckland Business School, New Zealand. Selena’s ongoing research interests lie on the ground of applied economics/econometrics and advanced data analysis. Her research has a strong focus on environmental and human behavioural aspects. Selena’s current research includes climate change issues, carbon emissions reduction, electric vehicle uptake and associated infrastructure, and various applications of empirical economic modelling for transport systems. Her research has been published in leading academic journals.

Biography: Dr Lau is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Malaya, and previously served as Deputy Dean (Postgraduate) of the Faculty of Economics and Administration (2020-21) and Head of Department (Applied Statistics) for two terms (2013-14 and 2021). He is Elected Member of International Statistical Institute, ISBIS Council Member and Associate Research Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER), and was a MEXT Scholar at Osaka University (2001-06), Visiting Scholar at Risk Management Institute, National University of Singapore (2012-13) and Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Taiwan (2019). He also attended an Executive Education program at Bendheim Center for Finance, Princeton University in June 2013. Beyond academia, he was the Local Organising Chair (LOC) for ISBIS Satellite Conference in Kuala Lumpur (2019) and Hon. Secretary of Malaysian Economic Association (MEA) from 2018 to 2022. He specializes in the economics of finance and investment.

Biography: Le’s research at the Energy Centre has made a significant contribution to the field of energy economics by initiating the spatial econometrics modelling design to analyse the spill-over effects of wind generation on electricity price. Le brings expertise in economics and applied econometrics to analyse contemporary energy challenges facing New Zealand business, policy and the community. Her research is highly relevant given the current focus on working towards a net-zero economy. Le works across disciplines, engages with energy companies and organisations, contributes to energy policy and extends her research findings to the general community. Le’s work has appeared in top-tier journals with high impact factors and CiteScores, including The Energy Journal, Energy, Applied Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Utilities Policy, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, International Migration, New Zealand Economic Papers, Sustainable Energy, Grids and Networks, and referred International Association for Energy Economics Conference Proceedings.

Biography: Elie Bouri is an associate professor of Finance at the School of Business at the Lebanese American University (LAU). He has been named to Clarivate Analytics’ 2021 Highly Cited Researchers list in the field “Economics and Business”. He conducts research in the fields of financial economics, investments and risk management, energy finance, and cryptocurrency finance. Biography: Muhammad Ali Nasir joined the University of Leeds in February 2022. Prior to that, he has worked as an Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Huddersfield since July 2020. Dr Nasir has worked as a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Leeds Business School between May 2012 – June 2020. He has a PhD in Economics and is greatly interested in the areas of Monetary Economics, Macroeconomics, Financial Economics and International Economics, He is an active researcher and has published in a number of reputable journals in the last few years. Dr Nasir is also involved in the research supervision of masters and doctoral level students. Dr Nasir is a key team player, possessing an excellent command of a wide range of analytical techniques paired with sound researching capabilities. He is well versed in a wide range of pedagogical and analytical techniques and their context of application. Dr Nasir possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. Dr Nasir demonstrates a strong commitment to innovative pedagogy, enterprise, research-informed teaching and productive collaborative research. Currently, he is working on the challenges of macroeconomic policy formulation and issues around financial stability, particularly in the Post- COVID-19 world.
